Some Questions

I have a few questions:

When someone comments on your blog and you want to respond to their comments, do you email them or post another comment on your blog?

What is the suggested maximum blog length for optimal readership?

Does anyone have guidelines and or model student blogs for comments from high school students?

Is it possible to add a link in a comment?

Any answers to the above questions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Yvonne ,
Great blog post.
Let's see if I can answer your questions.

I would definitely answer on the blog post so that the conversation can develop in a coherent conversation and other blog readers may benefit from it as well...and who knows even join the conversation! ...Just like we are doing now!

I would say posts larger than one screen may be a little bit too big, but it all depends on the style of the text, and I am not really the best example, but I's say it it shorter and longer. Less is more!

I have seen links in comments, but I am not sure how it can be done. I will try to add some html here, but it might not work!!! :-S

I want to show you how to create the link, but somehow I am generating links instead of telling how it works. Please link to an explanatory note here .

Hope it helps!

Hello Yvonne
When I use blogging with my students I am usually working on a topic there is in their books and I also try to integrate the grammar into the blog activity, but in a more intuitive way.
For example, in this blog post Top Flex blog
I wanted my students to answer my questions using second conditional and to talk about their dreams and expectations, so I included a video clip, the lyrics and some questions. The students answered them using the second conditional.
Take a look!

Hi Yvonne,
Good idea to ask questions of your readers in your blog because it gets them more involved!

I will try to answer your question, "When someone comments on your blog and you want to respond to their comments, do you email them or post another comment on your blog?"

Usually, bloggers respond to comments on their blog via another comment on your blog. However, since the person who posted the original comment may not come back to your blog to check on the follow-up, you may want to send them an e-mail to let them know that you've written a reply on your blog. So, in my opinion, the answer is that it depends on the situation...

Recently, I have been trying something called coComment which helps me to track the conversations I am having on other blogs, so I can easily see when others respond to the same post as I have.

Keep blogging and asking questions --it is the best way to learn!

Hugs,
Mary
